A N I M A – alliance
of animals, nature, mankind & art
A Trailer by Henry Sperling http://www.gentleart.de in collaboration with Juliane. Thanks to PETA and Kevin Simon for footage.
We are a forming community, united by the goal of co-creating a place where humans, animals, nature, and art coexist as equal partners. We aim to live and work holistically in one shared space – and invite others to join us in this experience and carry it into the world.
Our Projects
- Rescue horses, care for them in species-appropriate ways, value them as part of our shared life
- Create an empowered together of humans, animals, and nature that many can experience
- Accompany people through therapeutic processes surrounded by nature and horses
- Create space for transformation: seminars, conferences, collective processes, festivals
- Develop artistic formats for new ways of interaction and bring them into the world
- Explore and share future-oriented models of co-living and co-financing
- Treat animal and nature protection as a collective concern and advocate for equal rights
- Enlarge networks with schools, universities, communities, farms, and local & (inter)national initiatives
The Magic of Belonging to the Herd
Here, a sense of belonging can take root within us: carried by a community and a herd of horses, embedded in the wisdom of nature. And this is where the real magic happens: we become part of the herd. By ceasing to place ourselves above life, we begin to locate ourselves within it. In this attitude lies the transformation: from I to We. A We that remembers it was never separate.
For this realization we are looking for
.. Patrons, donors, and supporters. We are taking over a non-profit association and a shared civil company that will carry the project long-term and serve as a foundation for our property and work.
.. More co-creators who want to help us realize the place and the projects – rooted, effective, and trusting in a holistic way of living together.
Our Projects and Their Impact in Detail
A Sanctuary for Horses
We are a sanctuary for rescued horses. With particular care, we meet their individual needs – including medical care, nutrition, and safe spaces. At the same time, we support their return to a natural, self-determined life in the herd. The horses live freely, with as little restriction as possible – with retreat areas, water, feeding stations, natural shelters, and mindful human interaction shaping their environment. Their dignity, body language, and rhythm shape our togetherness.
Healing through Encounter
Our seminars and community projects focus on encounter and personal growth. We create spaces where humans, animals, and nature work together in deep connection – grounded in approaches such as person-centered therapy (Carl Rogers), Focusing, Nonviolent Communication, and the Trust Technique (James French). We accompany individuals and groups with the conviction that every person holds the capacity for self-healing. Our creative and therapeutic workshops support healing and the unfolding of potential. We offer diverse experiences in self-awareness, self-expression, movement, dance, art, and body language. We deepen our body knowledge and group intelligence. Being embedded in a primal environment opens new perspectives, strengthens trust, and expands our capacity for action.
Ground yourself among Horses
Horses are not a backdrop here – they are participants. Each animal brings its own story, presence, and wisdom. Our therapeutic approach is rooted in relationship rather than control, listening rather than interpreting, being-with rather than interfering. And in this shared space, healing can happen.
Art, Body Language & Collective Intelligence
Artists who work with this foundational attitude become mediators between humans, animals, and nature. Projects arise that don’t speak with nature. Nature is experienced as a counterpart. Art becomes a bridge, an advocate, a way of seeing, feeling, and acting differently. Out-of-the-box formats are developed on-site and carried into the world.
The River That Gained Rights
In 2017, the Whanganui River (Te Awa Tupua) in New Zealand was recognized as a legal person – with rights normally reserved for humans. Inspired by this, we also want to give nature and animals a voice and legal standing in our community. We see them as sentient beings – not resources. Their needs and wisdom are part of our decision-making. We take responsibility for the well-being of all living beings – together.
Animal Rights as Common Concern
In daily interactions with our animals and the natural world, we experience an equal and collaborative coexistence. This naturally gives rise to a respectful partnership. We carry this understanding forward and advocate for equal rights in society.
A silent revolution of togetherness
In our community, a new kind of togetherness unfolds: one that not only hears animals, plants, and rivers – but takes them seriously in account for action. Encounter is therapy. Artistic processes connect. Horses accompany us – not as helpers, but as a compass. Healing happens when we are no longer alone.
Radiating Outward
A Prototype for New Ways of Co-Living
HumanNature@Home is not a retreat – it is a vibrant source of inspiration for social change. As a research and education hub, we create spaces where people can explore what it means to live in true relationship with nature and animals – with mutual respect, responsibility, and resonance. We bring together therapeutic, artistic, and ecological knowledge with lived community practice and make it accessible to others: through conferences, festivals, educational retreats, training, and pilot projects.
In an age of multiple crises, we are creating a place that fosters trust, regeneration, and connectedness – not in the abstract, but through concrete, everyday experience.
Holistic action is our guiding principle – we think in synergies. We are a place that asks questions – and opens up possibilities for action:
- What can a vibrant, functioning forest, as described by Peter Wohlleben, teach us about diverse and thriving coexistence?
- How can we connect ecological intelligence, group awareness, and emotional presence – in ways that are truly sustainable?
- What does democracy look like when all living beings are included?
- What models for just and sustainable coexistence emerge from what we explore and live here?
HumanNature@Home sees itself as a prototype – for a new culture of togetherness. As a teaching and research initiative that openly contributes to societal discourse. As a school of love and relationship. A laboratory for the common good. A space for the future.
The Next Step – Invitation and Call
Now is the moment to mobilize all our energies. We invite:
🔹 Co-buyers – to co-own and co-create for the long term
🔹 Investors and sponsors – to help finance and realize the place
🔹 Community members – to live, act, and co-create
🔹 Supporters – who wish to contribute their strength, time, knowledge, or resources
